Kerawa Introductions

KerawaWelcome to the official Kerawa blog where we will try to cover the latest inside news on Kerawa.com, the free online African classifieds. And like all first “official” posts, we will start with some introductions.

What is Kerawa.com ?

It depends. Seriously.

Officially, Kerawa.com is an online tool promoting person-person offline transactions.
For some it is an African online classifieds, while some prefer referring to it as an online African marketplace. Others even call it an African Internet Presence Provider.

Disclosure: We will figure out a description of Kerawa.com with a lot of hype and buzzwords in it very shortly :)

Internally, Kerawa.com is pure fun in creating an African start-up, and we are enjoying every moment of it. But who are we ?

The Team

37Signals argues that:

For companies trying to build new web-based businesses and web-apps, all you need to start is three people. Three people to launch a product. A programmer, a designer, and a “sweeper” — someone who can move between the worlds and also gets common sense business and marketing.

Presently the team is composed of a pair of Africans trying to offer a bit back to the African community. There’s Nino, and there’s Fee. The two founders.

Nino is the “sweeper”.

A leading voice in the Francophone Africa web 2.0 space. His words can literally do and undo most sites in Francophone Africa. He directs most of the marketing and business strategies over here at Kerawa.com. As an analogy, albeit not very accurate, he is the Michael Arrington (TechCrunch) of Francophone Africa.

Fee is the programmer.

He applies the “less is more” principle as often as possible, and used to listen a lot to Linkin Park. Disclosure: I’m talking about myself here. Not a very healthy sign.

( As you may have noticed, we lack a designer. That will come. )

We started Kerawa.com a few months ago, and it’s been quite an experience thus far. We face the same challenges most African start-ups face, but are determined to transform our disadvantages into advantages. Time, and only time, will determine the outcome of our efforts.

As noted in our title this post was meant to be an introduction, and introductions have to be short. Introductions made, subsequent posts will be less about who we are, and more about what we’re doing.

Our journey has just begun.
